How to check your pet for ticks
Run your hands over your pet daily, especially around:
- Head, muzzle, and ears (from the neck up is where ticks are most commonly found)
- Under the collar
- Chest, armpits, and belly
- Tail base and between toes

What to do if you find a tick on your pet
If you find a tick on your pet, it should always be taken seriously.
Carefully remove the tick using a tick remover if you are confident doing so, but you should contact your vet as soon as possible for advice, especially if you are unsure how long the tick has been attached or what type it is.
Signs of tick paralysis can develop hours to days after attachment and may include:
