Specialist Referrals Where required, we will refer our clients to dentists in human dental facilities and work closely with them to ensure optimal outcomes are seen.

Radiology
On-site digital radiology delivers immediate high-quality results. These facilities are critical to quickly identifying and treating patients with fractures, trauma, ingestion of foreign bodies and other disease processes.

Ultrasound- abdominal and echocardiography:
On-site ultrasound equipment is a critical diagnostic tool for our trained Veterinarians when identifying medical issues presenting with abdominal or thoracic fluid, tumours, foreign bodies and various organ diseases. With instant results, this means treatment at The Village Vet is swift and proactive. Echocardiography allows us to identify heart diseases and the causes of a heart murmur.

Pregnancy Ultrasonography
All new mothers need the best care and The Village Vet here to provide regular health and medical check-ups for pregnant pets.

Coming soon at our Killara site. Radioactive iodine-131 therapy is the gold standard treatment for hyperthyroidism in cats.
This treatment is administered with a single oral capsule. It’s the same treatment used for humans suffering hyperthyroidism. No need for lifelong tablets.

All surgeries are supported with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, C02 monitors, patient warming devices, surgical facilities and cautery whilst caring, qualified veterinarians and veterinary nurses take care of your pet.

Elective Surgeries Age-appropriate desexing is conducted in-clinic by fully qualified, caring and experienced Veterinarians.

Orthopaedics and Advanced Surgical Procedures
The Village Vet staff are fully qualified and experienced at conducting a range of surgeries. We have a team of visiting orthopaedic veterinary specialists for advanced surgical cases. These are handled on a case-by-case basis, backed up with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and always in consultation with you, the pet owner.

The goal of all vets is to help pet owners protect and care for their pets and The Village Vet highly recommends purchasing pet insurance as part of your pet’s care.

We offer a standard health check that you can give to insurance companies for cost-appropriate quotes.

While you are deciding on your preferred insurance provider, The Village Vet is able to offer four weeks free Vets Choice insurance. A health check performed by your vet can help waive waiting periods for Vets Choice insurance for pets.

Our team are fully trained to best advise you on pet insurance options and providers.

Cat Condos
We have beautiful, custom-built and architect designed cat condos at both Killara and Pymble practices. Each condo has it’s own private litter area, bedroom and even a play-run for the cats!

Dog Boarding
For dog boarding we recommend the Hanrob Pet Hotels. You can arrange free pick up and drop off from our clinics.

Endoscopy
We have a range of endoscopy equipment for bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy and endoscopy. The Village Vet’s Endoscopy equipment, a range of miniature fibre-optic cameras and rigid scopes allows us to look with a camera in hard to reach places like the nose, lungs and stomach. These cameras are often critical to reduce the need for invasive surgery by using their long reach to extract items or collect samples under anaesthetic

Dr Martine Perkins has a niche interest and expertise in Chemotherapy treatment for domestic pets.
All the staff get very attached to our chemotherapy patients as we see the medication transform their lives.
Chemotherapy is very different from what human patients experience and is well tolerated in our patients extending their lifespan considerably.

Cat Rehoming
Here at Village Vets we have rehomed hundreds of kittens and adult cats to wonderful homes. We are passionate about animal rescue and adoption.

Wildlife Care
We also accept all injured wildlife at the clinic where they will receive a vet examination as well as care and treatment.

Pathology

The Village Vet have a comprehensive in-house pathology laboratory, where we run a number of tests including haematology and biochemical blood analysis, blood smears, urinalysis and cytology.

This means we can get an accurate diagnosis in the shortest possible time.

Health Checks
A health check consultation includes a full physical examination with enough time for you to ask as many questions as you need.

Vaccinations
Dogs are advised to be vaccinated triennially against Parvovirus, Distemper and Infectious Hepatitis and annually against Bordatella and Parainfluena. We also vaccinate against Leptospirosis where suitable.

Cats are advised to be vaccinated annually with an F3 vaccination. The F3 vaccination protects against Feline Panleukopaenia, Feline Rhinotracheitis Virus and Feline Calicivirus.

In some instances an FIV vaccine against feline immunodeficiency virus is recommended. This is particularly relevant for cats that venture outdoors as some diseases are spread via cat fights.

Microchipping
The Village Vet performs Microchipping in accordance with the NSW Pet Registry requirements.

Wellness and Preventative Medicine
Early diagnosis is critical to prevent disease. We have full on-site laboratory diagnostic equipment to assist our professional team when assessing the health and wellbeing of your pets.

Geriatric Care
Specialised geriatric care is provided for our elderly clients on a case-by-case basis to provide for your pet’s every stage of life.

House Calls
House calls can be offered and are certainly available in some situations, however often we can assist with a nurse pet collection also. It is often better for your pet to be seen on-site where we have diagnostic facilities and nursing staff available to assist our veterinary team.

Dietary and Nutritional Counselling
The Village Vet staff are fully trained in nutrition and dietary needs of domestic pets. We provide weight consults at the clinic which includes weight management techniques/plans and nutritional advice. The Village Vet has taken time to research nutrition options for your pets. We only sell vet-recommended food. Let us help you decipher the confusing pet food label industry and what it really means.

Grooming
The Village Vet offers cat nail clips, hair clips and limited dog grooming services. We do however have close relationships with other dedicated dog grooming facilities that we can refer you to and offer a discount voucher for your first visit there.

Exotic pets and bird medicine
The Village Vet provide veterinary services to exotic pets and can give assistance and advise on bird medicine. We can also refer your exotic pets to dedicated specialists in the field should it be necessary.

Wherever necessary we will refer clients to one of our respected, external specialists who work with us to complement our team where needed. Visits may be arranged on-site where required.
