What should I bring to my pet’s first visit?

Please bring your pet’s medical history, any relevant documents, and a list of current medications. If your pet has any specific health concerns or symptoms, make a note of them to discuss with the veterinarian.

How often should I bring my pet in for a check-up?

Regular wellness exams are essential for your pet’s health. We typically recommend annual check-ups for adult pets and more frequent visits for seniors or pets with specific health concerns. Your veterinarian will provide personalised recommendations based on your pet’s needs.

Does The Village Vet provide emergency care?

Yes, we are equipped to handle pet emergencies during regular business hours. If you have an after-hours emergency, we recommend contacting Northside Emergency Veterinary Services on 9452 2933 or the animal hospital closest to you.

What payment options are available for veterinary services?

We accept cash, Visa and Mastercard. We also offer VetPay, allowing you to spread the cost of your pet’s care over manageable installments. Ask our friendly reception for more details about VetPay or any other payment queries you may have.

How does The Village Vet handle nervous or anxious pets?

As a certified Cat Calm Clinic, we are dedicated to making vet visits less stressful for anxious pets. Our Killara practice provides separate consultation rooms for cats and dogs to help reduce stress during visits. To further support a calming experience, you can call ahead to arrange for anti-anxiety medications or to start the meeting outside in a calm environment if that helps your pet feel more at ease. Additionally, we use Feliway diffusers for cats and Adaptil diffusers for dogs throughout both of our clinics to create a soothing atmosphere.

Can The Village Vet recommend nutrition plans for my pet?

The Village Vet can provide nutrition plans tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Alongside our veterinarians, our nurses are highly trained in weight management and nutrition advice, ensuring your pet receives comprehensive, expert care. Whether your pet requires a specialised diet due to age, health conditions, or weight concerns, we have you covered. We offer guidance on a wide range of food options to fit every budget, ensuring your pet gets what they need without compromising on quality.
