Tips during isolation for pets

Apr 9, 2020

Some simples tips while you are isolating with your pets:

Animals can be stressed by changes in routine, so if you are working from home or self-isolating try to keep as close to your normal routine as possible, or familiarise your animals with a new routine and stick to it.

Remember- this won’t last forever. You will be going back to work eventually. Please make sure your pet’s (especially dogs in this case) have some time to themselves during this period so that they are not shocked when everything suddenly changes. A period of time each day that they can have alone in their own space will help ease the transition for when you and the family are not home all day.
*This is especially important for young dogs and puppies that are still learning proper behaviours*. They need to know life without you too.

Some animals, especially cats, may find the extra activity and noise with more people constantly at home stressful. Make sure that your animals have places to hide away if they want to and have the things they need easily accessible (for example, food, water, and litter trays). Again, give them some alone time each day to rest by themselves if they need.

If you’re concerned about your pet’s health while you are self-isolating, please don’t break your quarantine – call us on 94994010 to ask for advice. We will be able to work with you to ensure your pet receives the care they need while keeping our staff safe from COVID-19 infection.
